As The CEO, President, And Chairman Of National Steel Car, Greg Aziz Has Focused On Sustaining A High Level Of Excellence And Eminence In The Rail Car Manufacturing Business

Founded in Canada in 1912 under the moniker of Imperial Steel Car, National Steel Car currently provides a high level of excellence in areas of railcar engineering and manufacturing. National Steel Car is headquartered in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

As President, Chairman and CEO of National Steel Car, Gregory J Aziz has built an impressive résumé over the last 24 years. Greg Aziz’s negotiation skills, tenacity, and business knowledge, was learned at quite an early age. As a young man, Aziz would work for his family business, after the school day was over. Aziz gathered important knowledge about the dynamics and subtleties of business while working for Affiliated Foods. Aziz would use these important experiences to build a future in finance and executive corporate leadership, based on the success of his family’s business growth, internationally. His early years working for Affiliated Foods helped would build his character for being an executive later on in life.

Aziz watched the family business grow, as Affiliated Foods would score new clients in Canada, South America, Central America, U.S., and Europe. In a time frame of 16 years, Aziz’s family business would grow into an international fresh food distributor. In addition to his family’s business success, Greg Aziz had an impressive 10-year stint working in the finance in New York.

 

Over a decade, Aziz would build up his business contacts and financial savvy, eventually acquiring National Steel Car. Aziz would buy National Steel Car in 1994 from Dofasco. Defasco had owned the Canadian company since 1962. In addition to his work background, Aziz earned a bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Aziz’s college education would end up benefiting him later in life.

 

While CEO of National Steel Car, Aziz expanded the company’s staff and improved manufacturing in many key ways. Aziz increased the number of employees from 500 — this was the number when Aziz purchased National Steel Car — to 3,000. Under Aziz’s tutelage, National Steel Car is producing over 12,000 freight cars, yearly. Prior to Aziz being the CEO, National Steel Car was only manufacturing 3,500 cars, annually. Greg Aziz’s vision was to facilitate a business environment for team-building, and using cutting-edge technology to spur new rail car design and manufacturing processes.
